You can Import a list of contacts into your account with Patch Retention.
From the Account Settings, select Import.
Selecting this option will bring up the Main View and list all imports for the account.
To Create a new Import, click on the (+) sign in the lower right.
To View past imports, click on the ‘eye’ icon.
If the ‘eye’ icon is greyed out then that event is not viewable.
Importing a New File.
Select the (+) sign to Add a New Import, it will ask you to select a file.
Supported file types are .csv, .xls, .xlsx
Once you choose your file it will take you to the Select Fields page.
The Select Imports Fields page is where you match the columns of information from the imported file to the corresponding field in Patch Retention by clicking on the Select a Field Dropdown arrow to scroll and search for the field.
Leave the field blank / unselected to NOT import that column of information.
In other words, if I did NOT want to import a particular column, I would NOT select a field for it. Only selected fields get imported.
If your first line item is a row of headers and NOT an actual contact, select the option ‘First line of file’ Contains headers (ignore line) and it will skip importing the labels.
When you have your fields set, click on the Arrow in the upper right to continue to the next page.
The Import Settings page is where you can choose to update existing contacts by their phone number, email address, or Shopify ID instead of creating a duplicate contact if you mark that checkbox.
The Checkbox means to only update contact info and not Create new contacts.
The Conflict Policy refers to if a value exists for that field of an existing customer, and the imported file has a different value, you can either Add those values together or Replace the value with the new one.
Edit Default Field Value allows you to add a field value to all of the contacts being imported.
For example, a common use would be to add a field value such as SMS ON set to YES, to have your list be opted in when imported if that is the case.
When everything is set here click on the arrow in the upper right corner to continue.
The last page is the Confirmation Page. For record-keeping and liability reasons, it will ask for your initials when importing a file.
This is how to import a file to add new contacts and update existing ones from your account settings.
You can also view a previous Import by clicking on the colored eye icon. It shows the total Contact Records imported at the top.
You can also see the Imported Fields in the first tab at the top ‘Select Fields’.
The second tab for ‘Import Settings’ shows if existing contacts were updated or if new contacts were created.
The last tab for Confirmation shows the initials of who performed the import.
